Hefei, China – The Lemmo ZERO was officially previewed on May 25th in partnership with automotive manufacturer Nio during the launch event for its new ET5 and ET5T models. The ZERO is the latest model from Lemmo (Light Electric Micro Mobility), a smart e-bike brand designed and manufactured by the German company HYPATHS.
The company first made its mark with the LEMMO ONE at the 2022 Frankfurt Show and has since released successful follow-ups like the ONE MK2, often in limited runs such as the Core, Urban, and Dynamic editions.
As of late June 2025, the new Lemmo ZERO is available for pre-order on the company's website, with deliveries scheduled for this October.
With the ZERO, Lemmo is venturing into a new market segment, a strategic move bolstered by its high-profile partnership with Nio to expand its audience in China. Its 16-inch wheels position it in the sub-20-inch carbon fiber e-folding bike category. Weighing 12.5 kg (27.6 lbs), including the 2 kg (4.4 lbs) Smartpac Air, the bike boasts a compact, fluid, and genuinely inspiring design.
Lemmo's entry into this segment may seem surprising, but the technology developed by the German firm's engineers resonates with the Chinese automaker's vision. The bike is built on Lemmo's core "E+Bike" concept, which ingeniously separates key electronic components (battery, motor, controller) from its IoT functionalities.
The ZERO's frame is made from Toray T700 and T800 carbon fibers. T700 & T800 are high-end materials from Toray (Torayca High-Performance Carbon Fiber)
The Lemmo ZERO is conceived for "last-mile" commuting.
With a range of 30 to 40 km (approx. 18-25 miles), it reliably covers daily urban journeys
Its compact nature allows it to be easily carried up stairs, in elevators, on subways, and on other forms of public transit that permit folding bikes.

Embedded technology like Bluetooth, 4G, and GPS is integrated into a single intelligent module called the Smartpac (the Smartpac Air for the ZERO model). This unit functions as both a removable battery and a power bank, featuring USB-C and USB-A ports.
The removable Smartpac Air utilizes Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) cells, has a 159Wh capacity, and is IP66 certified. Crucially, it is approved for carry-on travel on airplanes. In its power bank role, the Smartpac Air offers dual-port charging with a 65W USB-C port and a 10W USB-A port.

Housed within the vertical pipe, the Lemmo smart control center acts as the bike's brain. It links the entire electrical system via a CAN bus, managing data in milliseconds and featuring built-in Bluetooth for seamless connectivity.
The integrated pedal sensor monitors speed, distance, cadence, and power output. This data is displayed in real time on the Lemmo App, whether you are in manual or assist mode. The bike also features a phone holder and a Smartpac with USB power, allowing to use smartphone as a real-time dashboard for navigation, ride data, and switching between assistance levels.
The Lemmo ZERO’s motor is a standout feature. It stems from Lemmo's proprietary Dual Hub Mode technology, which allows the rider to physically decouple the hub, transitioning from electric assist (E-Mode) to a purely mechanical bike (M-Mode) with zero pedaling resistance.
The ultracompact 200W front-hub motor is an impressive feat of engineering, weighing only 900 grams (approx. 2 lbs) while delivering 30 Nm of torque within an 85mm diameter.
According to Lemmo, the motor and its torque sensor are specifically tuned to achieve peak performance with a 16-inch wheelset.
Frame Geometry - "When unfolded, the 1-metre wheelbase and 16 x 1 3/8-inch wheels offer the same riding posture as a 26-inch bike..."

Lemmo's ZERO model represents a major engineering feat in such a compact design. You can't help but admire the impressively small 85mm front motor that houses Lemmo's proprietary Dual Hub system.
I'd be curious to compare the practical, day-to-day ride of the 16" Lemmo with the 20" model I currently own. Even though its reach and stack are similar to a 26" e-bike, I'm pretty sure its daily use is best suited for urban centers and public parks. It would be perfect for cruising around Kyoto, but with 30Nm of torque, tackling the hills of San Francisco would be a real challenge.
You have to appreciate the onboard connectivity of the "all-in-one" Smartpac Air. It's consistently well-designed—packing in all the tech while being sleek and easy to carry. This makes the ZERO an ideal companion for anyone who travels often. It fits easily on public transit or in a car, and you can even pack it in a suitcase for flights. Both its physical dimensions and its removable Smartpac Air battery/power bank comply with all IATA safety standards.
It's truly a successful smart e-bike for a commuter, with the ability to adapt to most regulations worldwide. The ZERO is arguably a Universal smart e-bike.
