Founded in Amsterdam in 2012, Veloretti offered a range of minimalist, retro-style, muscle-powered bikes with perfect finishes, dedicated to commuters. Ten years later, the manufacturer joined PON BIKE, a group of 20 iconic bike brands in Europe, North America, South America, and Asia. This group includes brands such as Caloi, Cannondale, Cervélo, FOCUS, Gazelle, GT, Kalkhoff, Mongoose, Santa Cruz, Schwinn, and Urban Arrow, among others.

It's also a brand that has paid special attention to parents by offering a very nice range of small bikes for children aged one and a half to eight years old. These muscle-powered bikes are only available in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, France, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Austria, and Luxembourg.

So, missing out on the electric bike market would have been a shame! But that was not the case. Veloretti entered the ebike segment in May 2021 with its first batch of high-end models, Ace and Ivy. Currently, its electric models are exclusively available in the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium.

And the result? Two very successful models! Visually, the aesthetics are derived from its retro-style bikes, equipped with high-end features.

Veloretti delivers quality smart ebikes at a decent price-performance ratio, with a beautiful color balance across its Ace and Ivy 2 models.

Hyperbolic Identity

The Veloretti Ace and Ivy Two have a unique feature in their custom front headlight. At first, I thought it was the same front headlight as the Roxim Z4E Pro headlights found on Stromer e-bikes. However, they are very different, and this is where Veloretti aims to stand out from its competitors: remember those 18th-century ships with their uniquely carved figureheads? No two ships had similar figureheads. They were easily recognizable when they arrived in ports, mainly thanks to this distinctive and unique element.

Veloretti app basics features

Even the app's user interface is minimalist, with a color scheme that matches the hues of its models. Additionally, it's interesting to note that the cadence adjustment in RPM can be done via the app: the embedded technology is coupled with ENVIOLO's calibration system in just a few seconds. The app provides access to data on speed, battery status, precise navigation, alternative routes, and access to bike lanes.

The app also includes other features, such as custom headlight settings ("hyperbolic identity"), control of the five assistance levels, bike location via GPS tracking, and weather updates to help plan your rides.

The app is compatible with Android version 5 and iOS version 12, which is rare with a recent update released in May 2024 for both operating systems (the app is even compatible with Apple Vision). It's a detail, but since the app's release in 2021, the brand has provided attentive and responsive support with regular updates, especially regarding the security of our connected devices via the app.

To wrap things up...

There are several methods to gauge the quality of a smart ebike. In my case, whenever a smart ebike catches my interest, I look for the user manual. A poorly detailed manual can sometimes indicate that the smart ebike is a rebranded bike sold under various brands worldwide (like the Sharp MILANO), implying some basic identical elements with additional equipment customized by the brand and extra features.

An ultra-comprehensive manual adds more integrity to the brand and is necessarily more updated and detailed. In the case of the Veloretti Ace 2, the user manual is superbly detailed and well-designed. While going through it, I realized that this product appears to be of high quality.

With its two models, Ace 2 and Ivy 2, Veloretti deserves to have its smart ebikes sold worldwide. The only drawback is the bike's weight (frame and battery weigh 28 kg / 62 lbs without accessories like fenders, basket, etc.). Otherwise, the bike is nearly perfect: its embedded technology is sufficient, its design is beautiful, but the weight is a dealbreaker!
