If ADO's carbon folding model impressed you or Lemmo ZERO, the URTOPIA Carbon Fold 1 is likely to blow you away. URTOPIA, already known for its all-carbon models (with the exception of the CHORD) featuring top-tier integrated technology, is now entering the ultra-portable sub-20-inch folding bike market featuring 18-inch wheels
The Carbon Fold 1 is designed for tech-savvy city dwellers and "power commuter" enthusiasts. Ideal for urban travel, it takes up minimal space on public transport, is easy to carry upstairs, and offers a perfect solution for the last mile. Its minimal footprint makes it an excellent choice for small apartments or car trunks.
Like the Lemmo ZERO, it will appeal to travelers: once folded, this e-bike takes up no more space than a carry-on suitcase.

Folding in two steps and under 30 seconds, the Carbon Fold 1 weighs just 13 kg (29 lbs), with 18-inch wheels, its design is a model of elegance and impeccable finishes: the integrated taillight and headlight, along with concealed cabling and battery, give it a sleek, minimalist look.
It's particularly suited for individuals under 6'1" (1.85 m). This is a logical choice, as riding with Kenda 18" x 2.0" tires, while agile, can be tricky if your legs are too long.
Equipped with a 500W hub motor designed for climbs, the Carbon Fold 1 delivers an impressive 42 Nm of torque for this type of e-bike, significantly reducing effort. The 252Wh battery features a 3-hour fast charge. Top speed is 20 mph (32 km/h).
Paired with an 8-speed Shimano Altus drivetrain and various pedal assist levels, it makes tackling hills, even in a hilly city, a breeze. The range is quite respectable at 64 km (40 miles), which is more than enough for a commuter e-bike.

A rear rack is very useful for everyday life, but...
...Nothing is specified about folding the e-bike with the rear rack installed...
Urtopia made a name for itself by integrating a smart interface with an LED dot-matrix screen. However, starting with the FUSION model, the brand abandoned that particular screen and now integrates a color LCD HMI display directly into the handlebars.

On the CARBON FOLD 1, there's no specific information regarding integrated speakers, a microphone for voice unlock or commands, a fingerprint sensor, or haptic control buttons. Furthermore, the Urtopia website's "Urtopia Connect Service" 4G/eSim subscription doesn't mention the JOY model.
All that is confirmed is the presence of Bluetooth, GPS, and gyroscope sensors. These core modules allow the Urtopia app to enable features like navigation, ride recording, and social media sharing. They also power an advanced anti-theft system that includes a motion alert, real-time GPS tracking, and the ability to remotely lock the bike.
Recent app updates have also added the option to configure the integrated lights. Finally, the app offers direct integration with Apple Health, Google Maps, STRAVA, and ChatGPT.

Another little gem of lightness designed for city dwellers, 18-inch wheels and weighing 13 kg - 29 lbs! Whether in the trunk of a car or on public transport, this Carbon Fold 1 has a very cool design profile! An impressive torque of 42Nm with a 500W peak! Urtopia succeeds in complex alchemies, so it's no surprise to find a well-balanced, well-thought-out, and well-designed ebike from them. The frame's color range, solid and resplendent, works in favor of the fluid lines. That little cup holder attached to the handlebar is a fun touch; you can tell that commuters who are running late for work will appreciate this accessory, along with the essential rear rack. The question for me remains whether this rear rack will be a real hindrance to the folding of the Carbon Fold 1.
