Since Smarty Bikes is an international site, some models may have different names or belong to a partner brand within the same group, depending on your region. For those who have read our article on the Sharp MILANO, which also exists as the CITY VANTURE from Vanpowers, the Muon FERMION PRO here is also available as the URBANCROSS-PRO from Vanpowers
Featured here is the FERMION PRO by MUON: a smart e-gravel bike that blends style with technology. You will also find this bike branded by VANPOWERS as the UrbanCross-Pro.
A little background: MUON, originally a Dutch e-bike brand, was acquired in 2024 by the Berlin-based group LINEMART. LINEMART also founded the VANPOWERS brand in 2022 and has partnered with SHARP since 2023 to manufacture its e-bikes (including the Sharp MILANO).
Both the FERMION PRO and the UrbanCross-Pro models are available in two colors:
For Muon: Mint Green and Sand Yellow
For Vanpowers: Sand Yellow and Lava Red and Coke Black
Mint Green (Fermion Pro)
Lava Red and Coke Black (UrbanCross-Pro)
Sand Yellow (Fermion Pro/UrbanCross-Pro)
UrbanCross-Pro's features
The FERMION PRO is at the intersection of on-road performance and off-road capability, making it a true gravel bike that has been intelligently electrified.
With the integration of a non-removable battery, a display, and internal cable routing, the FERMION PRO looks more like a classic bike, boasting a clean, minimalist, and elegant design.
The frame is made of 6061 aluminum alloy, and its carbon fiber flat handlebar contributes to both lightness and vibration absorption. It features a rigid fork, a classic choice for a gravel bike to maximize pedaling efficiency. The total weight of the FERMION PRO does not exceed 17.6 kg (38.8 lb), which is quite light for an e-bike, making it easy to handle and transport.
The Fermion Pro is powered by a fully integrated 36V 9.6Ah (345.6Wh) battery with LG cells, located in the down tube. It includes a 42V/4A fast charger, which allows the battery to be fully charged in 2.5 to 3 hours.
This setup provides a top speed of 28 mph (45 km/h) (US only) and a range of up to 75 miles (120 km).
Equipped with a 250W rear hub motor, which can reach a peak power of 520W. The key feature is the presence of a 42 Nm torque sensor, ensuring natural and proportional pedal assistance sufficient for the moderate hills typical of gravel routes. To enhance the riding performance, it features a 9-speed Shimano® CUES U4000 drivetrain, offering smooth and precise gear changes across various terrains, and Tektro® Hydraulic Disc Brakes with a 160mm rotor. The tires are gravel-specific CST 700x40c with puncture protection.

UrbanCross-Pro's Onboard technologies
Onboard technologies on the Fermion Pro are divided into two modules:
The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) features a 1.45-inch color TFT-LCD screen, which is seamlessly integrated into the stem. Equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, it links the bike to the mobile app to provide features such as ride tracking, bike settings management, and navigation.
Additionally, the TBOX Smart Module, mounted on the top tube, integrates the following features directly with the app:
GPS tracking with remote location
Proximity auto-unlock as you approach the bike
Theft and motion alerts
SOS accident detection
OTA (Over-the-Air) updates
Bike monitoring and diagnostics with riding data
Audible functions
The VanLife app allows e-bike users to record and track their rides, check their vehicle's status and riding data, and participate in a leaderboard with all Vanpowers and Muon e-bike users. It helps riders understand each component of their bike and easily troubleshoot common issues.
Here are the detailed features of the VanLife app:
Connect the E-bike: The app connects to the e-bike by scanning the unique QR code displayed on the vehicle's screen with a smartphone camera. By using the app and the bike's display, the rider can access features like ride tracking, data display, vehicle status, settings customization, and the leaderboard.
Ride History and Ranking: This feature provides detailed recording of calories burned, ride time, distance covered, and other data. Users can review their past performance and compare it with other riders.
Ride Tracking: This offers real-time tracking and mapping of rides, including:
Maximum Speed
Average Speed
Distance
Time
Calories Burned
Real-time Speed
Navigation and Route Planning
Maintenance and Repair: Users can find the names of all their bike's parts, learn about common issues, and watch detailed video tutorials for assembly and maintenance. This allows them to "solve minor issues themselves and accurately report more significant problems."

The Fermion Pro is a very well-balanced e-gravel bike; there's a good harmony between its design, components, and onboard technology. As an e-gravel bike, a notable drawback is the inability to remove the battery (except for service, for which the brand will likely provide a tutorial). The screen's integration into the stem reminds me of the very successful integrated display on the SMALO PX2.
With a maximum assist speed of 20 mph (32 km/h) for the US market, its 45 Nm of torque is a sensible output for the sporty cyclist the FERMION PRO is targeting, and it's also a realistic figure given the motor and battery specs. However, it makes me wonder if the stated 75-mile (120 km) range is based on eco mode; notably, there are no details provided on the different levels of electric assistance.
On the technology side, the integrated display with Bluetooth and the frame-integrated T-BOX Smart Module—which must contain the GPS and likely a gyroscopic sensor—are satisfactory for the features offered both on their own and through the app. In terms of components, the origin of the rear motor and the torque sensor is unknown, but the LG battery is a very good choice.
Overall, the Fermion Pro is a very well-thought-out electric gravel bike. The selection of modern, reliable components paired with a minimalist design could have easily been adapted for a pure city version with a carbon fiber frame and a belt drive. In my opinion, that hypothetical model would have been even lighter.
